Just like there is Orange Cap and Purple Cap in Indian Premier League (IPL), in WPL too, these are given to the players who score the most runs and take the most wickets in the season.

Australia veteran Meg Lanning won the Orange Cap in the WPL for the first time in 2023 when she scored 345 runs in nine matches.

The Delhi Capitals Women’s Premier League (WPL) captain narrowly missed out on the top spot in the Orange Cap race for the 2024 season when she finished second behind Royal Challengers Bangalore star player Ellyse Perry.

In WPL 2024, Ellyse Perry scored 347 runs in nine matches and played a vital role in leading her team to the title.

At the same time, her compatriot Meg Lanning, who is the captain of Delhi Capitals, led the team to runner-up finishes in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons but missed out on winning the Orange Cap.

Talking about Indian players, Shefali Verma has come closest to winning the Orange Cap in WPL.

Shafali had finished third in WPL 2024 by scoring 309 runs in nine matches.

On the other hand, Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana secured the fourth spot in the 2023 and 2024 seasons respectively but they too missed out on getting the cap.
