The BCCI on Wednesday evening informed that he is out of the series due to injury and now Rishabh Pant will captain against South Africa in his place. It is worth noting that senior players have been rested for this series.

New captain of IND vs SA series

The Indian team has to play against South Africa at home in a five-match T20 series from Thursday, June 9. Just a day before this match, India has suffered a major setback. Team captain Rahul and spinner Kuldeep Yadav have been injured. BCCI gave information about the injury of both of them on Twitter. Along with this, it was also told that the selection committee has appointed Pant as the captain and Hardik Pandya as the vice-captain for this series.

On Rahuls injury, it has been told that he has a growing injury and Kuldeep has suffered a right-hand injury during net practice. Both players have serious injuries and will not be available for all five matches of this series. No other players name has been included in the team in place of these two. Both will be staying at the National Cricket Academy for rehab.

Regular captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for this series. The selectors, while announcing the squad selected for South Africa, appointed KL as the captain of the team and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant as the vice-captain. Now, after the captain is out due to injury, only vice-captain Pant will take over the command of the team in this series.
